They're for anyone who wants something on the table under a glass, and for anyone giving a small housewarming gift. Reviewers most often mention buying them for someone else.
The leather is scrap left over from our other work, so nothing goes in the bin. Each coaster is cut with rounded edges, as shown in the first image. Because they come from different hides and different pieces, color and grain vary from coaster to coaster and from set to set. That variation is the point. Water rings, marks and a darker surface build up over time and the leather ends up looking used, because it is.
Care is simple. Wipe them off with a dry or slightly damp cloth and let them air dry flat. Don't put them in the washing machine or the dishwasher, and don't set them near direct heat. Marks left by a wet glass are normal and will not come out, and we wouldn't try to remove them.
On sizing: there is one size, and one order is a pack of four. There's nothing to measure and nothing to choose. If you want more than four on the table, order more than one pack.

I added these coasters as an impulsive throw-in on an order (just to reach a pricing plateau for an offsetting discount for shipping). And TBH, they don't really look like much in the Dearborn site's photos, IMO.
When they arrived, however, I was genuinely surprised at the quality. They're thick, soft and luxurious. Not that it really matters, but they even smell good (my wife jokingly said they're "so leathery"...)

These are gorgeous pieces of leather that serve a practical purpose. I own several sets. These are durable. The old ones get wet, and can be cleaned with e.g. Murphy's Oil soap and perhaps a little leather conditioner to maintain a wonderful patina. Gushing over leather coasters? Maybe! But they really are nice.

Let me start by saying I absolutely loved the first 4 coasters I purchased. I'm not sure how long ago I purchased them, maybe a year. I realize leather is not all the same and there will be variations. I recently purchased 8 more coasters because I loved the first 4 so much. What I received are half the thickness, not as firm, and generally much lower in quality than the original 4. Very disappointed. Original purchase is the darker of the two.
